The dx101 replaced the dx5000. The dx10 replaced the dx3000. The FT710 replaces the dx1200. All those older models were designs from a decade or more ago.Featurewise, the 710 will sit between the 991A and the FTDX10 so it may be the more natural price point going forward minus any additional inflationary, or global supply chain adjustments upward. I have both, the 3000 might be ever so slightly quieter but honestly it's hard to tell...3000 is a bigger radio with more connection options on the rear, scope is not that great compared to the ftdx 10...I prefer the menu layout on the ftdx 10, using the stock mic I think the ftdx 10 tx sounds slightly better but they could be ... .
